Interview with DJ MOONER (Discoteca Cosmic)

Who is Dj Mooner and what does he do:

I run weird parties with my friends here in Munich called “Zombocombo”. I also Dj a lot and constantly search through piles of records and try to discover. So you can as well call me a researcher. I guess. If i had more time i would start painting again.

You runs lots of very interesting and important project as Club le Bomb or Zombie Nation, how and why are they born?

Why is a good question. I am quite intersted in co-producing, working in groups…Each one does what he/she can do best. With these projects i could realize what i couldn´t ever have done myself!

How is “Elaste” compilation born?

I was doing some remixes and DJ sets for Compost in 2005 and Mr Reinboth approached me asking if i would be interested in doing a compilation. OF COURSE i was! I suggested him to compile old electronic Cosmic stuff, - He was immediately into it. Then it took another year to realize this.

Tell us about your love for the Cosmic-Era: people, songs and facts that makes you feel in love with this “old”scene.

Too much! Almost everything! The music, the feeling of sun, the old photos, the knowledge i have how they worked their music, … The mix of styles and the incredible feeling for flow that Djs like Loda and Baldelli had. When i hear old tapes i daydream how i dance in Disco Cosmic with a great spliff and enjoy the light and the people.

Myspace and internet-networking have opened a new type of collaboration between people who join music as an evolving art: what's your relationship with “the web”?

I´m quite pissed off Myspace, cos there´s too much crap and spam going on. People want to be your friend because of numbers and they have no idea who you are and what you do. … On the other hand i met some great people!

What's next on Mooner's planner?

Hmm, i took a little break in Djing for 3 weeks, i had enough and i was burned out. I could not enjoy myself nor the music. But next week i will be at the Snowbombing Festival in Austria, then Vienna at a Museum , Oberhausen for the Shortfilm Festival.

My friend Albert played “Heart and Soul” by Joy Divison last night and i listened to the album today for the first time in years. This one i rediscovered.
